US SAILING ODRMS – Saturday, January 20, 2018
For Race Officials, and those who want to be, the US SAILING One Day Race Management Seminar will be on Saturday, January 20, 2018, hosted by Hampton Yacht Club in Hampton, Virginia. This is a day long seminar (8:30am to 5:30pm) that covers race management procedures and techniques in depth. Those who attend the seminar may, if they desire, take the on-line test that is required for US Sailing Race Official certification. This seminar provides a wealth of information that will be helpful to anyone involved in running races. Participants must be a member of US Sailing (you can join on-line) in order to participate in the seminar. Seminar instructor is John McCarthy assisted by Jerry Thompson, both US Sailing certified Race Officers and Judges.
The $60 seminar fee includes course material, online testing, continental breakfast (coffee, tea, pastries and fruit), lunch (deli buffet with beverage) and soft drinks, water and sweets at the breaks. NUTS & BOLTS for RACE COMMITTEES – Saturday, March 10, 2018.
This is a Murphy Seminar presented by Southern Bay Racing News You Can Use, and hosted by Hampton Yacht Club, Hampton, Virginia. The seminar is entitled “Bearings and Angles and Numbers, Oh, My!” The morning will be spent discussing starting lines, gates, offset legs, finish lines and other places where numbers are important, but need not be daunting. Taught in John’s informative, entertaining style, the seminar will remove the mystery from what these numbers mean and how to determine them quickly and easily. No math skills required . . . just common sense.
Instructor is John McCarthy, US Sailing certified Race Officer and Judge. Seminar hours are 9:00am to Noon. The $25 seminar fee includes materials and coffee, tea, pastries and fruit at check-in and coffee, soft drinks, water and sweets at the breaks. IMPORANT RACE INFORMATION
CCV Fall Series Day3 on October 8th 2017: The race start is delayed by one hour and set to start at 12:00 noon!
This is due to the Hampton marathon that will limit the access to the HYC!
The 2017 CCV Awards Banquet will take place on November 18th at the Crown Plaza in downtown Hampton. Tickets are on sale for $35 in our shop till September 4th, after that it is $45. Take advantage of this early bird offer and go to our shop.
CCV is proud to offer a new Advanced Crew Training class for those sailors, who want to learn more advanced skills. The course is designed to provide fundamental training in foredeck, mast and pit work with an emphasis on the essential coordination between these positions to launch, fly gybe and douse the spinnaker.
